As Legal Subject Matter Expert, you will play a pivotal role in our product development process end-to-end from brainstorming to interacting with users to developing features and products for release. You will provide legal subject matter expertise throughout the Company, working closely with the Product, Engineering, Design and Subject Matter Expert teams in particular. You will, for example, work on product initiatives like enhancements to our natural language search system and creating new workflow features that seamlessly fit into and meet lawyers’ day-to-day research needs.

You’ll identify new problems and opportunities to create impactful experiences. Your innovative and collaborative skills will be leveraged to create compelling features for our end users.

You’ll be doing things like:

  • – Providing legal subject matter expertise to the ROSS team
  • – Contributing to the product roadmap with new ideas and feedback
  • – Working closely with the Product, Design, Subject Matter Expert, and Engineering teams to solve product problems and address lawyer needs with cutting-edge solutions
  • – Assisting in the development of new AI models and scenarios
  • – Understanding the internal and external challenges of building great features for the legal market
  • – Engaging with client representatives to introduce AI technologies and clearly communicate their value
  • – Managing knowledge shares via a number of channels including face to face, webinar, blogging, mailshot, white-papers
  • – Managing and responding where appropriate to all key deliverables of the customer success and sales cycles requiring legal subject matter expertise
  • – Communicating and collaborating with company leaders from multiple disciplines

You’ll need to have:

  • – JD or LL.B from an accredited law school, either in the US or Canada
  • – 1-3 years practical litigation experience or experience building legal search products
  • – Excellent knowledge of legal research software products
  • – Ability to transpose complex legal matters into technical concepts and outcomes
  • – Empathy for end users and a genuine excitement for solving problems for the legal market
  • – Excellent communication, organizational and project management skill set
  • – Excellent time management and decision-making skills
  • – Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision

It would be excellent if you had:

  • – Solid understanding of the US legal system and court structure, in particular
  • – Past experience building search systems, particularly search systems underpinned with machine learning and natural language processing models
  • – Past experience working in legal tech or collaborating deeply with product UX, engineering and design
